SAN DIEGO – The biggest San Diego-only firm just got a little bigger, thanks to three of the five lawyers who practiced as the local Ramseyer & Kuhlman firm.
Civil litigation partners Craig Ramseyer and David Kuhlman and associate Laura Gantney moved over to San Diego’s Procopio Cory Hargreaves & Savitch on April 25.
Ramseyer joins as a partner, Kuhlman as of-counsel and Gantney as an associate. All are in Procopio Cory’s litigation group.
“The addition of Ramseyer and Kuhlman will bring a wealth of legal knowledge and experience that will nicely complement our existing litigation capabilities,” Procopio Cory managing partner Thomas Turner says. “Craig, David and Laura will fit nicely into our unique firm culture.”
Ramseyer and Gantney practice business and construction litigation and construction and surety law, and Kuhlman’s practice includes business, construction and real estate litigation.
In their previous firm, also in San Diego, the trio handled construction claims related to public and private development projects. Their clients include public and private owners, general contractors, subcontractors, sureties and design professionals.
Procopio Cory recently added another floor to its downtown headquarters and now has 70 lawyers on six floors.
Watanabe Nason & Seltzer recruiter Larry Watanabe brokered the deal. “The strength of the firm,” he says, “is in construction litigation representing national and regional owners and general contractors. Ramseyer has extensive jury trial experience.”
The two other associates from Ramseyer & Kuhlman struck out on their own. Craig Fahey, who specializes in business law, corporate transactions and Social Security appeals, is doing that with his own practice. Litigator Jake Slania, who also does construction and surety law, moved north to the Orange main office of Booth Mitchel & Strange. Booth Mitchell has 26 lawyers in the cities of Orange and Los Angeles.
