McDermott Will: CENTURY CITY LITIGATOR JUMPS TO IRVINE OFFICE

Aggressively growing McDermott Will & Emery announced July 9 that Steve Aaronoff joined the Chicago firm’s Irvine office as a partner.

Aaronoff, a litigator, leaves behind 120 former colleagues in the Century City shop Christensen Miller Fink Jacobs Glaser Weil & Shapiro.

Aaronoff’s practice focuses on securities, class and derivative claims; mergers and acquisitions; and defense of directors and officers.

“As firm growth continues on the West Coast, Steve will play an important role in the continued development of our office’s complex litigation practice,” Fay Morisseau, head of the firm’s Irvine office, says.

McDermott Will has 11 offices and 900 lawyers, 375 of them in litigation. The firm has been gobbling up lawyers throughout California, recently adding two intellectual-property lawyers in Los Angeles and shepherding a steady stream of lawyers in that practice area into its Menlo Park office.

In March, the firm brought corporate partners John Giovannone and Karen Calhoun in from Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton.

Bill Nason of Watanabe Nason & Seltzer handled the most recent Orange county additions. His Los Angeles-based recruiting firm so far this year has put six new lawyers into California offices of McDermott Will.
