SAN FRANSCICO – Lured by a partnership offer from Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory, Kevin Corbett has left the Los Angeles office of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw.
His first day with Los Angeles-based Allen Matkins was Nov. 1.
The commercial real estate attorney served as of-counsel at Chicago’s Mayer Brown for four years. Before that, he was in-house at Los Angeles’ CB Richard Ellis for 12 years.
Corbett says that the primary reason behind his move was the opportunity to make partner at Allen Matkins.
“He’s left with our best wishes and all the good feelings in the world,” says Mayer Brown’s Los Angeles managing partner, Louis Eatman. “He’s a very good friend of ours, and we wish him luck.”
Eatman says that Corbett’s practice should fit in nicely at Allen Matkins because Corbett handles a lot of acquisitions and sales, as does his new firm.
“Kevin creates an opportunity for us to further expand the breadth and depth of our real estate practice in the greater Los Angeles area,” says Allen Matkins name partner Michael Matkins. “Kevin has real vision for developing new contacts in the real estate industry.”
Allen Matkins’ real estate practice, with 25 attorneys, represents one of the Los Angeles office’s largest practice areas, according to Matkins.
“Our firm continues to emphasize the real estate practice, and Kevin will help us further penetrate the real estate industry,” Matkins says. “It continues to be an extremely important part our practice.”
Allen Matkins has 85 real estate transactional attorneys in its four California offices. Mayer Brown has 16 attorneys in its Los Angeles real estate department. Watanabe, Nason & Seltzer brokered the move.
