ILOS ANGELES – Intellectual property partner Terence Clark has joined Greenberg Traurig from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.

Clark, who began the first week of the new year, is a member of the firm’s intellectual property and litigation departments in Santa Monica.

He was formerly co-chair of Squire Sander’s intellectual property group, according to James Broderick, managing partner of that firm’s Los Angeles office. Clark held the position along with San Francisco partner Nathan Lane.

“Greenberg Traurig has a full-service intellectual property practice both here in Los Angeles as well as throughout the country,” Clark says. “In addition, [Greenberg Traurig] has a strong media and entertainment practice here in Los Angeles as well as in strategic locations around the country.”

Clark leaves behind a 14-lawyer intellectual property practice at the Los Angeles office of Squire Sanders, where he worked since 1989.

“Terry Clark is a fine lawyer and gentleman,” Broderick says. “He’s helped build the intellectual property department in Los Angeles, and we intend to continue to build upon the solid foundation that we have.”

Clark’s intellectual property practice focuses on representing media, entertainment, sports, communications and computer industry clients in enforcement, infringement counseling and litigation matters. He handles patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights and technology licensing claims.

In addition, Clark has First Amendment rights expertise and has represented broadcasters, journalists and celebrities, such as Dorothy Hamill and Tiger Woods in cases ranging from right of publicity to unfair competition. He also represented Geraldo Rivera in defamation and invasion of privacy litigation.

Lawrence Watanabe of Watanabe Nason & Seltzer brokered the move.
