LOS ANGELES – Employment firm Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart has added Lori Bowman as a partner in its Los Angeles office.
Bowman was formerly partner-in-charge of the Los Angeles employment practice at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where she had practiced since 1987.
Bowman represents clients in the entertainment, medical device and health care industries in employment litigation. She joined her new firm Jan. 20.
“We couldn’t be more excited about Lori joining us,” Ogletree Deakins partner Joseph Beachboard says. “We feel she’s one of the premier labor and employment lawyers in the city. She brings a great deal of experience, a terrific reputation and a blue-chip group of clients that fits well within our growth plan for Ogletree Deakins.”
Ogletree Deakins, based in Greenville, S.C., has 190 lawyers in 18 offices across the country. The firm opened its Los Angeles area outpost in September 2001. Ogletree Deakins this month moved the 10-lawyer office downtown from its former digs in Hermosa Beach.
Bowman says Ogletree Deakins appealed to her because “the focus is almost entirely on labor and employment.”
“It has expertise in every area of labor and employment law,” Bowman says.
Orrick Herrington’s Los Angeles managing partner Michael McAndrews says that the firm is not actively trying to fill Bowman’s post as partner-in-charge of the Los Angeles employment practice.
Recruiting firm Watanabe Nason & Seltzer worked on Bowman’s move.
