LOS ANGELES – Fulbright & Jaworski has hired partner Jeffrey Margulies and associate Rachel Stanger to serve in the firm’s environmental practice group.

They joined the firm May 3 from Los Angeles’ Parker, Milliken, Clark, O’Hara & Samuelian.

“Fulbright has got a name and a platform that is unparalleled in terms of its recognition as a go-to law firm,” Margulies says.

Margulies regularly represents Target Corp., J.C. Penny Inc., Federated Department Stores Inc., The Walt Disney Co. and the National Paint & Coatings Association. His work has centered on litigation and regulatory compliance involving product safety matters and Proposition 65.

Margulies has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives and in Sacramento on Proposition 65, a state law requiring companies to post warnings for certain hazardous chemicals.

“That will be a new area of our practice, and it will be complementary with our national toxic tort practice,” says Los Angeles managing partner David Ebershoff, referring to Margulies’ Proposition 65 work.

Fulbright & Jaworski’s 76-lawyer Los Angeles office employs five lawyers in the environmental practice group, which totals 50 lawyers firmwide.
Margulies had been a partner at Parker Milliken since August 2001, and Stanger had joined in May 2002.

Before joining Parker Milliken, Margulies had been at Haight, Brown & Bonesteel, where he had practiced since graduating from Villanova University School of Law in 1986.

Larry Watanabe and Ken Schwartz, recruiters from Watanabe Nason & Seltzer, brokered the move.
