LOS ANGELES – Loeb & Loeb has snagged Linda Bernhardt, a former deputy mayor of Los Angeles in the Riordan administration with two decades of public-service experience, the firm announced last week.
Her new role as managing director of regulatory affairs and land development at Loeb & Loeb’s Westside offices began May 21, she said.
Bernhardt jumped to Loeb & Loeb from the downtown Los Angeles office of Weston Benshoof Rochefort Rubalcava MacQuish, where she was director of regulatory affairs.
Bernhardt and the firm had been discussing the move for eight months, she said.
“I actually thought it was incredibly interesting, in the sense that I could expand into a national platform,” Bernhardt said of the jump to her new firm.
Bernhardt will focus on land use and lobbying work for Fortune 100 and 500 clients, she said.
Several of her clients have followed her from Weston Benshoof to Loeb & Loeb, including developer-builders Holland Partners Mammoth Equities and Sage Community Group, as well as infrastructure group WestPac Pipelines.
Loeb & Loeb Co-Chair John Frankenheimer said the firm was excited to bring Bernhardt on board.
“Her broad government experience and understanding of complex land-use permitting matters and related negotiation will make her an extremely valuable asset to our clients,” Frankenheimer said.
Before joining the Riordan administration, Bernhardt served as chief of staff to former Westside City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski.
The Western State University College of Law alumna was also a member of the San Diego City Council.
