SAN DIEGO – The law firm Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP recently added three more attorneys as it continues to expand its presence in San Diego.

Labor and employment attorneys Marie Burke Kenny, Phillip L. Kossy and Robert A. Levy join Procopio as partners from Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, marking the firm’s second addition of a three-attorney group in the past month.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome these three talented attorneys to our labor and employment practice,” said Tom Turner, Procopio’s managing partner. “Their broad range of capabilities will be a huge asset to the firm, as we strive to offer the full spectrum of services needed by our clients. They are also a terrific cultural fit for Procopio.”

Kenny represents employers in litigation involving wage and hour, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and unfair competition claims. She also represents employers in class actions, mediation, arbitration and state and federal agency proceedings.

Kenny has been an adjunct professor of employment law for San Diego State University’s Human Resources Certification Program, and in 2011, she was given the YWCA Tribute to Women & Industry Award.

Levy primarily assists clients in solving employment problems and developing strategies to deal with employment issues, including hiring, performance, discipline and termination, workplace violence and reductions in force.

He served as an adjunct professor, teaching employment relations law in the Human Resources Certificate Program at San Diego State University for more than 20 years.

Kossy’s practice includes areas such as discrimination and harassment litigation, wage and hour litigation, class action litigation, counseling, wrongful termination litigation, recent legislative developments, sexual harassment issues and violence in the workplace.

He has lectured on a variety of labor and employment law issues, including recent legislative developments, wage and hour law, discrimination, sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

“Procopio has been a long-standing firm of superior quality in San Diego, and I’m happy to be here,” Kossy said. “Change is always good.

“(Procopio is) very innovative and progressive, and the firm’s lawyers are not only diverse but of superior quality.”

Luce Forward is preparing to merge with national law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP on March 1. Kossy said he wanted to stay with a local firm.

“I like being back with a firm that, in essence, is California-centric, since employment law in California is so particular to California,” he said.

Legal recruiter Larry Watanabe of the search firm Watanabe Nason placed the three partners with Procopio.
