THE RECORDER
By Amy Miller
SAN FRANCISCO – Securities litigator Susan Resley has left Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in Silicon Valley to join Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in San Francisco.
A former attorney in the enforcement division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Resley represents companies and individuals in securities-related regulatory investigations and in class action and derivative litigation. She also advises companies and boards of directors on disclosure issues and conducts internal investigations for audit committees.
Resley wasn’t looking to leave Orrick when recruiter Larry Watanabe of Watanabe & Nason in Los Angeles contacted her about the possibility of moving to Morgan, Lewis. But the move turned out to be a good fit, she said.
“Morgan, Lewis offers deep SEC experience, which I felt complemented my practice,” Resley said. “And I’m very much looking forward to collaborating with the litigators in their San Francisco office.”
Resley said several clients are going with her to Morgan, Lewis, but she will continue working as co-counsel for one client that has chosen to remain at Orrick.
Resley began her legal career at the SEC in 1992, handling cases involving insider trading, accounting fraud and broker-dealer abuses. She moved to the plaintiff firm Gold Bennett Cera & Sidener in 1995 and joined Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, now DLA Piper, in 1998.
She graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1992.
