SAN FRANCISCO – Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is adding a new partner in its corporate and emerging growth companies practice group Monday.

Stephanie L. Zeppa joins from Dentons in San Francisco, where she was promoted to partner in April. She has experience in corporate finance and securities matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital-raising transactions and strategic commercial transactions. Her clients include established multinational technology and interactive entertainment companies, as well as startups.

Zeppa said Sheppard Mullin was appealing because the firm has a national presence and will allow her to work with tech companies at every stage of their development.

“They have a significant California presence and a top-notch corporate practice, but they are also very supportive of their emerging company and tech practice.”

David R. Lee, a partner in Sheppard Mullin’s corporate practice group in Palo Alto, said Zeppa has a very strong presence in the video game industry and would be able to take advantage of the firm’s Southern California presence to work more closely with her clients in the entertainment industry. He said the new partner also had some major clients, including Sony Corp., which the firm also works with.

Lee said the firm has an aggressive growth plan for its Palo Alto office, which he expects to expand from just under 30 attorneys to 75 in the next three to five years. He added that the firm was in talks with several potential additions right now, including a group of intellectual property attorneys.

“We’re actually talking with a number of other corporate candidates that appear to be very promising,” he said.

Legal recruiter Larry Watanabe represented Sheppard Mullin in connection with the transaction.
